Dr Joanna Bilak MBBS, MRCP(UK), PhD is a cardiologist at University Hospitals Plymouth, specialising in general cardiology and cardiac imaging. She holds a CCT in Cardiology and General Internal Medicine, alongside EACVI Level 3 accreditation in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance and BSE accreditation in adult transthoracic echocardiography. Her qualifications include an MBBS with distinction, MRCP(UK) and a PhD. She brings day to day multidisciplinary experience and particular expertise in cardiac MRI and echocardiography.
General cardiology and cardiac imaging
A committed educator, Dr Bilak teaches medical students and trainees, contributes to national assessment and professional society roles, and has led audits and quality improvement initiatives within NHS cardiology services. She is dedicated to delivering high quality general cardiology care.
An active researcher, her work spans multicentre trials in heart failure, diabetes and cardiovascular imaging, supported by competitive funding from the British Heart Foundation and the British Society for Heart Failure. She has an active portfolio of clinical research, has authored peer reviewed publications, and has presented nationally and internationally.
